At Johnson Elementary, 2nd grade dual language students have been studying communities the past several weeks. In their most recent story, the characters cooked a dinner that brings different members of a community together. On October 11, as an extension, the 2nd grade students recreated the meal from the story, by making a cheese quesadilla! Mmmm!
But there’s more: the students’ families donated extra ingredients and, after cooking the meal at school, the students will be boxing up the extra items to be taken to Hesed House. After school, Johnson teachers Brooke Shanley, Isabel Jorjorian, Carolina Barrios, Pedro Rosales, and Saul Olivas, went to Hesed House and used the items to cook dinner for the residents that evening. Nice job, Jaguars!
